This system sounds awesome, really brings the true 5.0 sound out of the v8 f150. Installed my self. Took about 2 1/2 hours. Although it definitely would have went faster if I had a lift or jack stands. Getting the stock system out took a bit of time but I ended up jacking the body up slightly, tires still on the ground I found this made it way easier to get the stock system over the rear. I believe the site has it rated 3/5 on the wake the neighbors scale. If you’re looking for something not too loud this might not be right for you. Cold starts are quite loud until it’s warmed up. Really no drone till about 70-75 mph on the highway. Overall I’m very pleased with the American thunder system

First exhaust system I’ve ever put on a vehicle. Was very easy to do, the only issue I really had was getting the old exhaust off without having to cut it. Love the deep rumble. Some drone when you get into fifth gear around 50-55 MPH with the 5.0 engine, but very manageable.

  3. Louder

I purchased mine about two weeks ago. It was so worth getting this system. It was easy to install and louder then I expected. I didn’t think it was that loud. I initially started it in the garage so I thought it was just because I was inside. NO, my wife told me she can hear me before I arrive in her sight, she works from home, and hear me from in the house. It adds power as well. Noticeably. She drove it so I could hear it myself. Very impressive.

Love the trumpet tone. Loud and deep that sounds great idling and full throttle.

I’ve had several trucks but this is the first time I’ve done any modifications. Call it a mid-life crisis, but when I figured out that my new F-150 has the heart of a Mustang, I thought to myself that it should sound like one. So I gave her a new voice. Obviously, the videos on here show the exhaust swap with the benefit of a lift and suggest a friend might be helpful, but I assure you that a middle-aged man was able to complete the swap on the floor with a couple of ramps without any assistance. The one thing that I had to do to get the OE exhaust out was to 1) disconnect the resonator from the muffler inlet and 2) slightly jack the frame up (2-3 inches) to get the outlet bend over the rear axle. Install was simple, like building with Legos. Fits perfectly and looks amazing. Now as far as sound goes, it is definitely louder than stock, but at cruising speed it is hardly noticeable – just turn up the radio is how I addressed that. I saw where someone had mentioned decreased fuel economy. I can’t say for sure yet, but I noticed I was gunning it a bit more than I would normally (just to hear her sing) which did impact gas mileage. Once I settled down, mileage has increased. One last note, I live on a street with several younger men with stock trucks. They watched me working on my truck in the garage most of Saturday. When I finished and cranked her up. These guys out cutting their grass looked straight up and come down to see what was up.

Sounds Great, can get a bit too loud at night in quiet areas.

I love this exhaust! It is slightly louder than I would like inside the cabin, so if you are on the fence about that this might not be right for you. The sound is incredible though. I also installed a S&B Cold Air intake and got a custom tune, made a huge difference in the performance! I installed myself which was pretty easy. I used a reciprocating saw too cut the old pipe in 3 pieces which made it easier to get out. This unit went in with ease. I used a pneumatic wrench to tighten down all the clamps which sped things up and got them nice and tight. I love it and will not decrement my rating because it is slightly too loud!

Fit great. Sounds perfect. Had to swap out some clamps. Very happy overall

  9. Dontknow

Haven’t heard it from the outside, but it’s louder in the cab than I expected. Sounds good on start up from outside. The 2.75” clamp that was welded on the hanger was a treat to get over the 3” inlet pipe. Removal of the stock exhaust and install of this was not bad. System seems well made, shipping was fast, the delivery almost beat the confirmation email

Phenomenal upgrade compared to the stock muffler on my 5.0. Real deep and aggressive tone from low-to-mid range RMPs. Only downside is at max RPMs (5-6 x 1000) exhaust sound becomes distorted. Other than that, love the sound it makes!
