Description

Performance. One of the primary advantages of the Spectre Performance Cold Air Intake is its ability to increase the amount of cold air flowing into the engine. The cold air intake system is designed to draw in colder air from outside the engine bay, which is denser and contains more oxygen. This allows the engine to burn fuel more efficiently, leading to improved combustion and better overall performance.Reliable. With the increased airflow and improved combustion, the Spectre Performance…

This is a nice cold air intake, built with quality material and doesn’t look or feel cheap or chinsy. It was easy to install and fit perfectly. However, my truck does Not like this intake. Upon start-up after installation, the engine immediately went to “Fail-Safe Mode.” I hooked it up to a diagnostic which yielded a MAF sensor code. I installed a new MAF sensor which ultimately yielded the same result, “Fail-Safe Mode” upon engine start. The intake is being returned.

Install was fairly simple, seems to work as advertised

I have installed other similar intakes on other vehicles and this one works as well but did not install as easily as it should have. The angle of the tube was not exactly right but it’s close enough and I got it sealed. The bigger issue for me was that the hole for the MAFS (mass air fuel sensor) was upside down. The only way the holes on the sensor matched with those on the tube was if the sensor was placed in upside down. I installed it the only way I could but when I tried to start the truck, it wouldn’t stay running. It was dark so I left it for the next day but after going in the house I suspected my problem had to do with the direction of the sensor. I researched online then pulled it out the next morning. That’s when I realized I could not put the sensor in the correct way because the mounting holes didn’t match. I ended up grinding down one side of the hole until I got the bolts to line up properly. After that the truck started right up. Check this out before going too far because even the auto parts store people said that the sensor direction didn’t matter. Performance improvements were noticed immediately once I got it working.

The video was wrong. Pipe goes on opposite for MAF sensor. 4×4 electrical in the way. Had to cut heat shield. But other than that, it is awesome. Looks way better than stock.

This cold air intake is sweet major difference in pick up power ..passing…and made my glass pac sound louder then before….overall was easy to install had to do some filing on the fan shroud so the bracket would set flush….

  6. Dustan

It appears to run better. Haven’t really got a chance to test it out. I would like to see if fuel mileage get a little better.

  7. kodajared

Def saw some more performance out of it chugs gas a little more but makes sense def best bang for your buck kit but as you install you can see why its only 200$

  8. SilveradoLT

had to do a little modifying ,but all in all a great fit. Nice deep rich sound.

  9. Rapidformz

its the best cai for the money from what i have seen the only knock i have on it is the metal surrounding the filter could be alittle thicker and it should have come with a bottom for underneath the filter so it could trap more air ps dont forget to turn lights on and unhook battery for an hour then turn lights off reconnect battery then start truck after install that way the computer and maf can be recalibrated to the new intake

Appearance is not that important, but performance is. In appearance the “chrome” is scratched and of poor quality on (two) orders and not acceptable. Performance wise the product will not work out of the box (on two) orders as a result of the MAP sensor adapter being welded on upside down. This will result in the truck not starting as the airflow in backward! The product support number in the box is not in service (Google Voice Number: 1-909-673-9800). I found multiple reports of the weld upside-down issue with a google search. Clearly my two orders were not an isolated incident. Both of these issues together spell a company that has poor management, quality control, and manufacturing expertise. Marketing: Air flow reportedly should have been drastically increased and yet was minimally different upon testing. Air turbulence was exceptionally high (but not tested on the OEM for comparison). As a test, increasing the vacuum present was the only way to increase any volume of air significantly, but quickly exceeded the MAP sensors ability , and the ECM to deal with these numbers. This ends up being a better air filter (if the filters longevity is to be believed). I have my doubts as the rest of the product is questionable at the start. Reports of a “louder” under hood experience was noted however. So… there is that and the “maybe” filter going for it. I might suggest spending more money and getting something better.
