Was pretty simple to install a lot easier if you get the new struts but over all pretty simple! I love it I think it looks awesome

  4. Jens

Really like sets the truck up perfect. Gets the front end out of a bind from leveling blocks. Not super hard to install.

  5. BrentHickman

I purchased this 3” Rough Country lift kit to keep my FX4 struts on my 2018 F-150 XLT and gain some additional ground clearance. I have moderate mechanical ability and tools and decided to tackle this install myself in my driveway after watching the American Trucks YouTube install of this kit. The video is MUCH better than the written instructions that come with the kit. The kit comes packaged with instructions and labeled bags of hardware. There are pictures as well but I found the instructions skipped steps and weren’t clear about when to use what hardware. The components seemed durable. A strut spring compressor is definitely required for this job, as is an impact wrench. I rented a hand vacuum pump tool for removing the axle but couldn’t get it to work and found that it isn’t really needed if you are careful with removing and realigning the axle. Total time with breaks was about 12 hours by myself. A second person would be helpful for the install. The height increase and ride of the kit is impressive and gave my truck a great feel. While not specifically mentioned for this kit, I also purchased and installed 1/4” Rough Country spacers for the factory 18” front wheels that I’m keeping.

The level kit gives the perfect stance for my 2017 F150 Limited with factory 22” wheels. Just enough to make the factory power running boards useful and clear the 35×12.50 RTs that I added to the package. Really like that it comes with the new upper control arms. Needed 1/4” wheel spacers to clear the new 12.50” wide tires from rubbing the control arms though.

Item came with everything needed for install. Did it in my garage in about 6 hours with typical mechanic hand tools. Made quite the difference on 2016 F-150. Mounted 2023 Raptor wheels and tires on truck. No issues.

Great lift and great price. Can’t beat the parts/pricing

NOT GREAT, all the ball joints had to be replaced within a year, I had to purchase $400 worth of new ball joints 2 upper and 2 lower. Quality not on par with the cost. I have had a time getting the truck aligned, with the ball joints going out it ruined a brand new set of tires. If you buy their upper control arm, go ahead and get a really nice set of new ball joints. and grease them every time you change your oil. Total damage, 400 for tires, 600 for ball joints (had to get lowers changed twice), 3 alignments at 150 each, plus mechanics fee for installing new ball joints at around 400. so expect to put in another $1500 ON TOP.
