I wish my F150 came with a voltmeter out of the factory, but it doesn’t – so I got this guy. A little pricey in relativity to some of the competition, but the quality shows in the product. Looks great on mounted on the side of my dash.

My rating of 5 stars is only for the volt meter itself – it runs very nicely and displays the battery volt level accurately because my 2015 F150 does not include any type of battery reading, which is disappointing. This voltmeter is great though. My rating of the included parts and mounting hardware is a solid 3/5 because the parts such. The included screws are completely worthless, incorrect and did not work properly, I had to go to the hardware store to buy the proper mounting screws. For the price of this volt meter, I expected the bolts to be good to use, but they were not. How I chose to wire this: Most people like to wire voltmeters and guage directly to powered wires under the dash or steering wheel.. this can more easily be done on older model vehicles. Most new cars, 2010 and up F150s have a much more complicated wiring setup under the dash and steering wheel, so I chose not to mess with that at all. Instead, I ran one red wire directly to the positive terminal on the battery for the required “constant 12v connection” for the gauge. I then ran the black wire from a grounded bolt in the engine bay to the rocker switch, and then a wire tap of that black cable to the gauge, this was to ground the connection. Next I ran a positive red wire from the battery terminal to the rocker switch, and then from the rocker switch to the gauge – this is to “power the gauge”. This simple setup should allow you to turn the gauge on and off as you need it. There are a few YouTube videos on how to do this setup, and I’ll post something similar too. This full installation took me a few hours, and I have some auto electric knowledge and experience from installing many light bars etc. Some helpful tips for installing: *You’ll need 25ft of red 14g or 16g wire *You’ll need 10ft of black 14g or 16g wire for grounding *You need a rocker switch with 3prongs – this is for you to be able to turn the voltmeter on and off *You also need male and female button connectors, wire taps, electrical tape and a soldering gun (optional)
