This was a direct replacement for the diff that my ’17 Mustang GT came with. Sadly the differential started leaking fluid after about 35k miles. Being out of warranty, my local Ford dealership wanted rebuild the differential for about $3k. I suggested that I buy this and have them install it. They said it would still cost $3k so I opted to purchase it myself and take it to a speed shop and have it installed for about $600 plus. So far no problems. Only issue was some of the fluid leaked out in shipping and had to be topped off.

This was the perfect change-up for my 2015 GT. Easy R&R in the garage, no messing with the gear set up. I’d gone from 3.31 to 3.73, but found the 3.73 too low. The 3.55 are perfect for my situation. Pic shows unpainted nodular iron. But mine came painted black. Pleased with that since it won’t rust up like the stock unpainted diff.

This replacement differential was great for 700 miles on the street. After just (2) 10.3 second passes at the dragstrip, it HOWLED all the way home. Used on a 2019 GT 10R80 car. This shouldn’t happen. Pinion pre-load loosened up. Looking for a solid sleeve solution…..

2017 PP with gen 2 whipple making 800+whp. I originally had the 3.73 gears swapped for 3.31 which prevented the need to shift into 5th at the 1/4. The torsen had difficulty handling both tires spinning at once and would usually kick the rear out towards the driver’s side. This new 3.55 track lock diff keeps the car spinning forward instead of kicking out. The 3.55 gears also feel like a better ratio for driving around town. With 3.31 3rd gear around town would be sluggish. The 3.55 really woke the car up, without being as aggressive as the 3.73s and are still tall enough to allow 1/4 passes without leaving 4th gear. The only complaint I have is the differential was shipped without a plug in the temp sensor port, and all the fluid had leaked out by the time it was delivered, which ended up costing me an extra $60 for 2 quarts of royal purple and a bottle of friction modifier.

Product is good, especially if you have an automatic that came with 3.15 gears. However, I would highly recommend not shipping this item with the fluids inside. It will leak out during shipping resulting in the purchase of a replacement fluids.
