I’m a sceptic especially when it comes to review others have offered – also I’m not particularly skilled when dealing with my car purchased new in 2015 – however I do like to look after things well which is why it’s only ever been washed by me personally and still looks showroom new after 5yrs and 30k. I’ve been looking at this tune for three years but didn’t want to invalidate the warranty and as per many of us, hated the thought of going to a dealer who has serviced the car for five years but always sought to find a reason to charge me extra for something along the way and often returned the car with a scratch or failed to address basic service issues. Being conscientious of the fact that it might take me another 15yrs before I can buy my next mustang, I realized that I wasn’t enjoying the car as much as when it was newer – I craved a bit of excitement when I put the pedal to the meta, this led me to bite the bullet and go for this upgrade blindly based upon what everyone else was saying.. WHY DIDN’T I DO IT EARLIER let me say that I did this upgrade under outdoor lights at night, it took around 2.5hrs. the two big issues being that Ford Performance really saw this an opportunity to offload an already designed CAI not made the for Ecoboost. It’s a good bit of kit but boy it doesn’t want to fit into your S550 engine bay without a fight, even then it just doesn’t fit around the air rammer at all which is a shame, is shoehorned into a space it wasn’t designed for, suffers the tasteless disposal of its original pipework and then refuses to sit flush on the existing air intake pipe whilst at the same time being a complete pig when it comes to fitting the actual filter which will no doubt have to be replaced sooner rather than later… Sooner rather than later because I now have a different car that suddenly felt like it had a wild horse unleashed under the hood. the second bit of mystery is on the pro cal install which I did myself and recommend anyone to do – it’s extremely straightforward until the very end when it asks you to remove power to the module. What does this mean? pull out the module?, pull out the usb?… no it means turn off the engine power – not that it is running anyway. it took second attempt at guesswork before the process was complete and the sweat dried up as I was wondering if I’d just deleted my ppm and eprom – then I wouldn’t have a wild horse or even a donkey for that matter. message came through on the pro cal software that the update was complete, slammed down the hood -by this time it was half past midnight. switched on the engine, definitely a new soft hum and purr coming from the engine when compared to stock. Reversed slowly down the driveway, pointed the nose north (I live at the very bottom of a 1/4 mile hill) and stomped on the accelerator. About 10 seconds later I’m over the crest of the hill and now going downwards, the beast has been unleashed and shortly I’ll be touching 80 but its not 80 as it used to be, infact I’m already at 80 and the new purr is roaring higher and it’s angry about it, in fact I might as well say it – the car is giving me attitude, it’s pissed that I took five years to do this and finally this is one wild mustang that has broken free…

If you’re strictly looking for gains this isnt your package, not that there arent any they just arent the biggest on the block. However if your A10 jerks like hell shifting gears and you cant stand it anymore this will set it straight. Been shiftin clean ever since.

I’m going to try to make this review pretty detailed just to answer questions I had before buying. This is incredibly, incredibly fun. I truly think its the best money you can spend on your car. DRIVEABILITY: It made the normal drive mode “better.” It isnt like sport mode like others have said, its just a better normal drive mode. The engine revs higher before shifting, it pulls more at the higher end, and just generally makes the car feel better. It makes the sport mode incredibly aggressive. It’s absolutely amazing. The car pulls hard with just half throttle, the shifts feel firm and perfectly timed. It improves the slow downshifts of factory sport mode. It’s great. SOUND: This intake makes a huge difference on engine sound. Exhaust is slightly throatier but not way different, but intake sound is way more fun. You can hear the air rushing in, you can hear the turbo spool and the blow off valve spew. Its all the turbo noise you want without any of the loud annoying stuff you might get with aftermarket blow off valves. MPG: Lets be honest, your MPG will go way down. Because this makes it so much more fun to floor it. However, that said, I still average around 32 highway and 18ish average on my tanks for driving conservatively, and thats with a few hundred extra pounds of sound equipment installed too. Which, at least from what ive noticed, isnt any noticeably lower than factory. INSTALL: Easy. Honestly the one time I’ve actually done work on my car and didn’t shout curse words the whole time. CJPonyParts has a great video on youtube that covers everything but the tuning part. My only downside is that you have to cram the intake pipe like crazy to actually get it to fit the GT350 bucket. The tune was also easy. You get a ticket that says “Go to this website to download”, you go to the site, put in a code on the ticket and download it. You need a reliable laptop for this. For the tune, I simply plugged my laptop into the OBD2 adapter included with the kit, and plugged that into my car. I followed instructions to download the tune specific to my car, then allowed the tune to run. No trouble at all. I also installed 1 step colder pre gapped iridium spark plugs from adamtuned. I’d honestly recommend this just for safety, which will lower your risk of detonation since you’re running 91+ anyway. OVERALL Overall, after a way too long review, I would honestly say this is some of the best money you can spend on your car. $700 for 30-100HP curve gains are insane. The car feels so much faster and so much more fun. Flipping into sport mode really makes me feel like the car truly turns into a “sports car” and not just a daily driver that goes fast if I floor it. I didn’t lose any features or driveability whatsoever, theres no annoying noise or lights, and the car still feels completely normal. It’s perfect.

I can definitely feel the increase in power towards the back end of acceleration. Was a little hesitant about the modification that needed to be made as it it not a perfect fit but seems to be working fine. I will probably go back in just to double check everything is on the up and up, as I hear an audible blowing on initial cold engine start. I’ve been told that it’s normal, but I just want to be sure.

The Ford Performance cold air intake, calibration, and throttle body are excellently made products from Ford. The filter and airbox looks awesome under the hood and mimic’s the GT350. I noticed a slight power gain but nothing near the claims Ford makes of 19HP. Honestly my GT had only 12K miles at the time of the upgrade. I only went with the Ford Performance kit so that I could maintain the remaining miles on my warranty. Had my warranty been expired at the time of install, I would have gone with a JLT kit and custom tune from LIVERNOIS POWERSPORTS in MI (what’s up Fletch, and Chris). I would highly recommend a full cat back exhaust to complement the gains of this kit. At the end of the day this is only a factory tune. When my warranty is up, I’m taking the gloves off and getting a custom tune to get the full potential of the vehicle. The FORD dealership also charged me over on the install time. That part wasn’t that cool.

I must say it is Day and Night with 4:09 gears. You will definitely feel the torque increase with this combo. I got this installed at a Ford Dealership near me and things went smooth, when I hit this gas pedal it took me by surprise response is instant but I must say I do feel that extra release in fuel even after the pedal has been release so know your pedal with 4:09 Gears with this combo
